Some might argue that Hammers are best because you really should be trying to one shot enemies so the swing speed doesn't matter but their dps is overall lower and i can't stand the amount of screen swinging. There are a lot of greataxes, yes. Unfortunately your argument is entirely undermined by choosing greatswords, probably the only weapon type that is even more abundant than Greataxe. Some suggestions: Lustrous Blade in Ashberry Hamlet. Fight 4 ghosts, get a Mithral greatsword that can blind enemies.Both have good damage at Heavy affinity, Duelist Greataxe win the trade cause it get more base damage. But Rotten Great Axe come with Scarlet Rot. The colossal Golem's Halberd deals little more damage than Duelist Greataxe/Rotten Greataxe for same stat investment, Golem's Halberd have a good reach. The problem here is Prelate's Inferno Crozier ...It means you can dual wield weapons that don't have the light property. For example, battleaxe s can only be dual wielded if you have this feat.
